Title: Object-Oriented Analysis (OOA)

This module is the second in the series where we use UML (Unified Modeling Language) to record out insights into tasks to be automated (typically by a software). The lecture is accompanied by a team exercise where a problem is analyzed. Lectures may include additional topics for the instruction of such tools as Rational Rose which may be employed to assist in the creation of deliverables for this exercise.

Specifically, students learn how to apply the Unified Method and its work-flows to a specification created in the previous module, how to identify classes and relationships between classes and how to record this information. Great emphasis is placed on understanding why the analysis processes is important and how your project can benefit from it.

Who Should Attend

Programmers, analysts and designers who have want to improve or establish their analysis skills. All participants are assumed to have already attended the introductory module.

Learning Objects

bulletLearn how to maximize the reuse of analyses efforts with many designs
bulletExamine the five relationships between objects in the context of analysis
bulletIdentify work flow
bulletIdentify and document classes and their relationships
bulletIdentify deliverables
bulletExperience the analysis process
bulletCritique the efforts of other student teams

Duration: 2-3 Days

Longer durations allow students more time for the hands-on exercises where true learning takes place.
