Notation
- Or bars will have different meanings depending on the context
- Or bars for the start menu
Example: "start | settings | services"
This means:
- Click the start button. This is often in the lower left portion of
the display on the task bar. If the auto-hide
feature is on you won't see it until you position the mouse there.
- The start menu will pop up and you will see settings. Select
settings
- This will pop up a window with icons. One of the icons is labeled
"services". Double left mouse click that icon.
- Or bars in an application
These bars just refer to consecutive menu entries that you select.
Here is an example from Microsoft Word 2000: "Table
| Select | Table".
- Observe the menu bar and select the Table menu (either with the
mouse or with ALT A).
- Click "Select" (or the shortcut "c"). Observe
the fly-out.
- Now select table.
